Rental eligibility
Drivers must be between 21 and 75 years old, hold a current licence appropriate for the vehicle and be approved and listed in the Rental Agreement. The hirer is responsible for every approved additional driver.
Payments bond and customer damage liability
The weekly rental charge, bond, applicable Damage and Loss Fee and any optional reduction are confirmed before the vehicle is released and recorded in the rental documents. The customer damage-liability amount is set by Berber Select and is separate from the excess that may apply to Berber Select under its fleet insurance.
The applicable customer amount applies to each separate accident, incident or claim. Loss and Damage Cover remains subject to the exclusions, prohibited uses and customer responsibilities in the signed Rental Agreement.
Vehicle use
Only approved drivers may use the vehicle. Rideshare and passenger transport for reward are prohibited. The vehicle must not be raced, driven recklessly or illegally, used off-road or on a beach, or used contrary to the signed agreement. A serious breach may remove the customer damage-liability limitation.
Accidents damage and security
The hirer must notify Berber Select as soon as practicable and within 24 hours of an accident or damage. They must collect the available driver, owner, witness, vehicle and insurer details and take photographs when safe. The hirer must not admit liability, authorise repairs, salvage or towing without Berber Select's prior approval, except where required by law.
The vehicle must be locked when unattended and its keys kept secure. Overhead, underbody and water damage, incorrect fuel and other exclusions are dealt with in the complete Rental Agreement.
Kilometres return and other charges
Each rental includes 1,200 kilometres per seven-day week. Additional kilometres are charged at $0.10 per kilometre. Two weeks' written notice is required to end the rental. The vehicle must be returned clean, with all keys and documents and with the correct fuel level. Cleaning, infringement, toll, recovery and other charges may apply as described in the signed agreement.
Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in the Rental Agreement excludes, restricts or modifies rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable Australian legislation. The agreement is governed by Queensland law and applicable Commonwealth law.
