Who we are
Berberoglu Pty Ltd trading as Berber Select provides vehicle-rental services in Queensland. References to “we”, “us” and “Berber Select” in this policy refer to that business.
Information we collect
Depending on your enquiry or rental, we may collect:
- your name, date of birth, address, telephone number and email address;
- driver-licence, passport and approved-driver information;
- quote, rental, payment, invoice and direct-debit information;
- vehicle condition, inspection, photograph, video, kilometre and fuel records;
- accident, damage, third-party, insurer, infringement and toll information;
- website enquiries, AI chat messages, emails, SMS messages and call details; and
- basic technical information produced when you use our website.
Why we use it
We use personal information to answer enquiries, assess rental eligibility, prepare quotes and agreements, provide and administer rentals, process payments, communicate with customers, manage vehicles, respond to accidents and claims, recover amounts owing, prevent fraud and meet legal and regulatory obligations.
Website chat and communications
Website rental enquiries are saved in our enquiry workspace and may also be sent to Berber Select by email for follow-up. An enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing. Do not send identity-document images or payment details through the public enquiry form.
Website AI chat messages may be retained as a conversation transcript and sent to Berber Select by email so we can respond to the enquiry. Telephone calls and other communications may generate call records or written transcripts where that service is enabled and permitted by law.
Do not provide complete payment-card details, licence images, passport images or other sensitive identity documents through the public website chat.
Rental offers and marketing choices
When you use our offers signup form, we collect your name, email address, mobile number, preferred language and separate email and SMS choices. We save these details, your selected channels, the wording you agreed to and the time and source of your signup in our customer admin portal and marketing system.
We use those details to send Berber Select rental offers and vehicle updates through the channels you selected. You can unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email or SMS, or contact us to change your details. Existing unsubscribe choices remain in place unless renewed permission is confirmed.
Website analytics
We measure visits to our public website to understand approximate country and city, traffic sources, devices, popular pages, engagement and enquiry activity. We do not record form answers, chat messages, payment details, customer-link tokens or full referring URLs in analytics.
Visitor numbers are estimates based on a monthly rotating protected identifier. Raw IP addresses are not saved in our analytics database. Temporary session information stays in your browser tab; our first-party analytics do not use advertising cookies or infer your age or gender. We respect supported Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Analytics records are retained for up to 14 months and reports are available only to authorised Berber Select administrators.
Optional advertising measurement
If you choose “Accept cookies”, we use Meta Pixel and Conversions API on public website pages to measure visits and completed rental enquiries and improve our Facebook and Instagram advertising. Meta may receive the public page address, event time, an event identifier, IP address, browser information and Meta advertising cookie identifiers. Matching event identifiers prevent the browser and server copies of one event from being counted twice.
We do not send enquiry form answers, names, email addresses, telephone numbers, driver information, identity documents, payment details, chat messages or private customer-link tokens through this integration. Customer registration, agreements, invoices, renewal and review links are excluded.
Advertising measurement starts only after your choice. You can decline or change your choice using “Change cookie preferences” on this page. We keep your choice for up to six months and respect supported Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Email and SMS signup choices are separate. Meta may process this information outside Australia under its Privacy Policy.
When information may be disclosed
We may disclose relevant information to payment and direct-debit providers, insurers and insurance administrators, repairers, towing providers, roadside assistance, professional advisers, debt-recovery providers, technology, hosting, email and SMS providers, government bodies, police, courts, toll-road operators and infringement authorities where reasonably necessary or legally required.
Storage and overseas service providers
We use third-party technology services to operate our website, communications and business systems. Some providers may store or process information outside Australia. We take reasonable steps appropriate to our business to protect information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
Access correction and retention
You may ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you. We retain information for as long as reasonably required for rental administration, claims, accounting, dispute resolution and legal obligations, after which it may be securely deleted or de-identified.
